Finally, the real NFL Season is here. If you’re like me, you’ve probably been counting down the days to this day ever since the day after the amazing super bowl. You got excited at every NFl event that proved you got closer to the season, tracked all of your team’s draft picks and free agent signings, followed the team throughout the preseason to scout the offense or defense of your team. Or maybe, you’re not a NFL super fan, and you just like to watch the games. Either way, this is an awesome day for you, as it’s time to watch some football.
First though, I have decided to just preview the playoffs, and the super champion because writing a preview for all 32 teams is tough. So, here are the playoffs:
AFC Wild Card Round
Colts at Chargers
Colts win, 27-16.
After struggling in the first couple games of the season as Peyton try’s to find his groove, limping around. Finally after a loss at San Dieago in week five when their only 5-6, they run the table and make the playoffs as the team no one wants to face, and they beat the same Chargers that they last lost to.
Dolphins at Steelers
Dolphins win, 18-17.
Who would have thought that the Miami Dolphins, one week after a 1-15 season, would make the playoffs??? About .1% of all sports writers probably. Me. In my opinion, they are definently the surprise team of the year, as they do it as Chad Pennington actually connects magically to his receivers, throwing 34 TD passes and actually all 16 games for only the second time in his career, and Ricky Williams winning comeback player of the year, rushing for over 1000 yards and 16 TDs. The Steelers barely squeeze out the AFC North crown in a tough race with Cleveland, as they have identical 10-6 records but the Steelers sweep the series. The Dolphins stinky stupid pass defense shuts down Big Ben, but they have a tough time stopping Willie Parker, and they barely upset them on a last second field goal, winning by one point.
NFC Wild Card
Eagles at Seahawks
Eagles win, 35-19
Donavon McNabb actually won’t make much of an impact in this game since he is recovering from a broken finger from week 7, but it doesn’t matter. Brian Westbrook runs for 4 TDs, and returns a kick for another, as the Eagles easily put away the Seahawks.
Giants at Packers
Packers win, 13-10
A reamatch of the NFC Championship game in which Brett got his last throw as a Packer picked off in OT, as the Giants win a move on to the Super Bowl, and… you know. This time, Aaron Rodgers gets his first career playoff win, as its a defensive battle until Aaron throws the game winning td with minutes left on the clock.
Next Time: The Divisional Round.
Now, for the games.
Detroit vs Atlanta
Detroit wins, 17-10.
The lions win as Matt Ryan struggles in his first carrer game, and Lions actually run the ball for the first time since Barry Sanders.
Cincinnati vs Baltimore
Cinci wins, 35-28.
Once again, Cinci’s defense stinks, but Chad Ocho Cinco catches a few catches as the bengals run away with this one.
Seattle vs Buffalo
Seattle wins, 21-13
Matt Hasselback becomes a great QB again, as he gets a couple of scores as they beat out another potential playoff team.
NY Jets vs Dolphins
New York wins, 28-24.
Like I said before, Brett Favre is going to be a really good QB this year, as it shows as Chad gets picked a couple of times as Brett throws TDs.
Kansas City at New England
NE barely wins, 21-20.
Boys and girls, this game comes thisclose to being a fantastic upset as Tom Brady hobbles around, but he somehow manages to throw to Moss as the chiefs falter.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans
Saints win, 24-21
This is a really good candidate for GotW, as Drew Brees and Jeff Garcia battle it out, but in the end, Reggie Bush pulls through with a game clinching TD.
St. Louis vs Phili
Philadelphia wins, 16-13 (OT)
This also will be a candidate for GotW, as Phili barely wins as their offense starts out slow but ends strong. STL’s offense finially looks like how it should be with all the big names there, but they don’t come out in the end.
Houston at Pittsburgh
Houston wins, 21-18.
This could very well be the upset of the week, as Mario and crew shut down Big Ben. Houstons offense and Matt Schaub also click, as he passes for a TD or two.
Jacksonville vs Titans
Jacksonville wins, 24-16
Another game in a week of evenly matched teams that could be the GotW. The Jags running game and good D puts Vinnie Young and team down.
Carolina at San Diego
Chargers wins, 17-3
LT rushes for a couple of scores, the Chargers defense dominates and the Bolts easily win.
Arizona at San Fran
Tie!!! 14-14
Call me crazy. Call me weird. For the first time since 2001, two teams are so evenly matched they tie. The QBs both don’t do well, and in OT they can’t muster anything, leaving it a tie.
Chicago at Indianapolis
Chicago Wins, 17-14
As I said earilier, Peyton struggles early in the season and the Bears defense returns to its 2006 form, as the bears win.
Tommorow: MNF preview!!!
